Happy Korean New Year and “Thank you Teacher!” from a student

Text messaged all my Korean friends and co-workers, Happy Korean New Year. One of the students I helped for a speech contest text messaged me back and told me the same. It turns out she won the bronze medal for her speech. She told me thank you for helping her, it was because I helped her that she won the medal.

She told me that in her text.

I don’t think I did much. I just helped her with her pronunciation. She wrote the speech and practiced it every day for an hour or more. I told her not to practice the day before the contest, she won’t have a voice. I told her to rest and relax the day before. I think she was surprised I told her to rest and relax.

The text message made me smile.
