Moving update!

I will be posting on my blogger account on Blogspot.

That is where I originally wanted to post things and then I forgot.

I will make post there instead in a few days. The Money Diaries and everything else will be there.

Here is the new link. Please update your bookmarks.

Money Diary Day 1 of 30

This is a 30 day test to see how much money I can save by changing little things.

Things to know:

  • I get paid once a month as a teacher in South Korea.
  • It’s not my full pay, because the students are on summer vacation and I have not had extra classes for a month.

Today I got paid, since the 17th falls on the weekend. I can’t post the time because my phone battery is dead, but I don’t think it matters anyway (never the same time).

If I know the time I will post it. This is a daily blog of my day to day expenses in Korea for the month.

Expenses – 08/16/2013

Spent  $129.97 on a coat, winter boots and some proper fitting pants on the internet from Zulily. It may sound like a lot for 3 things, but I saved $204.03 off the combined items regular price. I am preparing for winter early.

7 pm – Went to ATM to transfer my money from one Korean bank account to the other. Cost was about $3 bucks to withdraw the money from one bank since that ATM was not near me.

7:15-ish:  Deposited most of my check into my other Korean account. Kept 10,000 won cash. Went to store and spent 11,700 won (about $11) on a six pack of 2L bottled water and a six pack of 1L bottled waters to be delivered to my apt and I bought some cheese slices (cause I wanted a grilled cheese sandwich to finish the bread before it went bad). The water is delivered for free.

Spent just under $14 bucks on the new issues of my comics that came out, digitally.  It was cheaper to buy the  volume set then them individually.

Transferred money from my Korean Bank to my American Bank…about $1,150. Not sure how much that will be when transfer fees from my bank come out. It covers my American expenses though.

Pretty much stayed inside today, it is TOO HOT!  The news even said stay inside between 12-5 pm, because it got hotter at those times.

Today spent – $154.94

Later, DN

Questions and what’s going to happen…

I am going to be updating more often, mostly daily.

I am trying to see how much money I can save in a month with all my expenses and bills here. It is an idea from Ramit Sethi, I Will Teach You to Be Rich.

Not sure it will be $1000, but every little bit helps.  So I will be keeping a daily diary to see how I am doing and to keep track of everything.

Also, I will be posting my bradelocz journey and daily/weekly life.

Oh yeah, I was told that comments could not be posted on my update post last time.

Is anyone else having problems or still having problems?

Post anywhere and I will get the message.

DN Life Update

Sup?  Been awhile. I have been thinking about blogging, but it is so hot here, I just get home and veg in front of the fan.

Basically because my apt – although big (3 bedroom I don’t have to share or pay for) does not have air condition.  I will have to get that portable air con/ heater/ humidifier one somewhere. That way whenever I have to move, I can take it with me.

This is what has been going on…

1. I may start a blog on one of my hobbies, or just post it here until it gets big enough. I stay at 4 or 5 star hotels in Korea for way cheaper. Like this one time, I stayed at a 4 or 5 star hotel in Myeongdong (shopping galore) for 4 days and nights for a little over $530 bucks.  The room I had was originally $220 a night. That room was big enough for me to do my running app inside.

2. I started locs… 3 times. This last time I did myself.

…And they weren’t going to tell me.

I call my grandmother usually every day  from Skype or at least every few days.  I had been busy while I got renewed because all the running around I had to do and slacked a bit.  But she understood.

I talked to her maybe a week ago, possibly less, but time blurs here while I am teaching and stressing over open classes (another post). I found out she needed money so I sent it to her. (always do, what little I can every month.)

Well, I hadn’t been able to get a hold of her for maybe a week. No matter if I called really late my time or as I was going to work. Usually she answers.  I even tried her cell.  No answer. I had been trying to tell her I sent more money because I got paid.

I found out last night, I FINALLY got a hold of my mom ( living somewhere with sucky reception) Grandma was in the hospital (again) but needed a brain biopsy (something like that).  Mom told me Grandma had been having headaches and stuff lately (Grandma never mentioned these to me – “I’m doing fine, baby.”) and was in the hospital. She leaves that day.

I had little sleep that night (had open class the next day).

Called her on my way to work. She answered like nothing happened, but I guess from my voice she knew I had been worried and asked me if I knew where she had been.  From my tone I guess she could tell I was a bit mad.

LIVID now after open class stress is gone, happy she is okay.

Livid because, she asked me who told her.  I told her Mom did.

The other people in the family were not even going to mention it.

I wonder if they told my brother.  He is going to be LIVID.

This is like that time that Grandma had a stroke and they didn’t tell either one of us. My brother found out first, and thought I knew about it and called me pissed off asking why I didn’t tell him. Of course I told him to STFU, I just found out myself from you. We are both wonder why they think they should keep stuff like that from us.

I am 31 and he is 24. We were both pretty much raised by Grandma.  They need to tell us immediately what happens if something goes wrong.  If you can’t get both of us, one of us can get a hold of the other. We have ways.

..I will type more later in a different post.  I am getting more annoyed thinking about it. Plus, I need to get ready to leave work.

Long time no see…

Sorry. I have been busy.  I thought about updating but by the time I am able to I don’t have the energy.  I will give you a quick update of what has been happening.  Some can go into their own separate posts. If you want more information, just say so.

  • Met up with LBFAM#1 and LBFAM#2.  Been three years.  Picture up later.
  • Meeting a slew of cuties and nice guys. One is in marketing, the other a freelancer in urban development here in Korea (Korean American), another works in the wedding hall, and the latest one is an international trader in petroleum (tentative date when we are both available). We have exchanged numbers and ID’s to chat.
  • Unexpectedly, I have been asked out of the blue (twice by the cuties upon our first meeting another by a coworker because I was learning Korean and I like it here) if I would think about settling down here.
  • Lost 30 lbs.
  • Guy at convenience store asked me out, many times in fact.  Even asked if I had a boyfriend.  I am reluctant because of the language barrier and he may be learning more English because he can see that, because our last short conversation he asked me this without any Korean and no hesitation. Or getting more confident in speaking.
  • Taking Intensive Korean courses on Saturday.
  • Taking KPOP dance class but going back to belly dance. (DAMN IT SHINNEE!)
  • Got renewed at my school, so no moving this year. 3 bedroom apt… No, I technically don’t pay for it.
  • Finished a 30 day straight Hot Yoga Challenge.
  • My radar for Sexy, may be coming back.  Been wanting to go to this one place for awhile but it is kinda far.  Turns out he was there. I will go another day anyway, because I want to explore.

Guys I have met…

Here are the men I have met in the past two weeks… Or has it only been a week?

GOB1- met him through his friend unintentionally on my part, but intentional on his. His friend spoke to me and got my number as friends (dude is married) and GOB1 messages me that night saying he wants to take me out. More on that date later in a different post.

GOB2 – met him by chance on the first bus to catch the second bus toward home. Total cutie. Lived in America for awhile. Might have been a chance for a date but I was too worn out from not enough sleep in the last few days to realize it. We have each others instant messenger ID though and can get in contact with each other easily.

There is another guy, but he isn’t korean and I don’t know much about him. No idea where he is from. We were just chatting and he gave me great info on how to get my teaching certification without having to go home. Not going to count him in this… As far as I know anyway.
